Conception by the John Turville Trio

The John Turville Trio are one of the leading contemporary jazz trios in the UK, comprised of three of the busiest musicians on the London scene. Their first release, Midas (F-IRE) received excellent reviews and was awarded ‘Best Album’ in the 2011 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and won the ‘Promoters Choice’ award in 2010. Their style is characterised by strong references to modern classical music, contemporary jazz and tango, with influences ranging from the pastoral subtlety of John Taylor and Keith Jarrett to the harmonic depth and angular rhythms of Ligeti & Henri Dutilleux. Recorded in Italy in 2010, their new release ‘Conception’ has the same unique sound as their first album, but with a broader scope of influences, from fiery tango and poignant jazz ballads to reinterpreted versions of Shearing and Radiohead.
